Part Time Medical Secretary / Billing Assistant needed two days a week Tuesday and Friday for a podiatry office in East Midtown Manhattan. We need a self motivated individual who can complete given tasks and has a sincere interest in helping a practice grow. Once in a while may need to come in on other days or in the evening if needed.
Currently doctor's wife does most of the below tasks, and we need to transfer this responsbility to whoever we hire.
Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
Receptionist/Secretarial duties:
1) Greeting/signing out patients and front desk responsibilities, including phone calls
2) Collect co-pay.
3) Maintain the appointment calendar.
4) Verification and authorization of patient's insurance coverage.
5) Communication with insurance companies.
6) Communication with referring physician’s offices.
5) Patient data management with billing software and EMR (electronic medical records).
Billing Duties:
1) Follow up on unpaid claims and bills.
2) Helping post paid claims and bills.
3) Communication with insurance companies.
Marketing:
1) Developing relationships with referring physicians and other referral sources.
2) Contributing to the marketing plan and strategies for the office.
Requirements:
1) Presentable individual with strong people skills and a pleasant phone voice.
2) Strong computer skills, experience with medical billing software, (i.e.medisoft), EMR (electronic medical records), an electronic calendar, internet savvy and experience with Microsoft office.
3) Experience in a medical office a plus but no required if the individual has strong computer knowledge and data entry experience.
4) Strong organization skills.
5) Ability to work independently, self directed work experience a plus.
6) Desire to help the doctor grow the practice.
