IEEE Spectrum, the flagship magazine of the IEEE, is seeking a copy editor. The New York City–based publication has received numerous honors, including several National Magazine Awards. The IEEE is the world’s largest professional organization, with more than 370,000 members worldwide.





Responsibilities:


• Copyedit text for both print and online, coordinating its progress from manuscript through production.


• Work effectively with all levels of editorial and art staff to arrive at mutually agreeable solutions.





Qualifications:


• B.A. in English or journalism or equivalent experience.


• At least three to five years experience in magazine copyediting.


• Skills in Microsoft Word and Adobe InCopy and K4 (or Quark Copydesk and QPS).


• Extreme familiarity with AP, Chicago, and Words Into Type.


• Comfort with technical material and ability to make it readable.


• Ability to take initiative and prioritize under deadline pressure.
