Union Square Start-up Seeks Experience Flex/Flash Developer (Union Square)

Who we are:



Wakozi.com is a start-up company located in the Union Square area of Manhattan that is currently looking for an experienced, reliable and diligent Flex/Flash developer with knowledge and understanding of modern object oriented programming concepts to work on a very exciting project that is set to launch in the coming months. We are a young company that is growing rapidly, and you will be joining the team at a critical stage in our development. Job description:



To date, the project has been developed by a small team of in-house developers who will remain involved in the development and management of the project. We are looking for a qualified developer to come on board with us full time to grow the team and execute ideas and functionality shaped in conjunction with the project manager and developers.



We are looking for someone with whom we can form a long-term relationship past the initial launch of the development. This is a project-based opportunity that will likely result in full-time employment.



Pay is competitive.



Responsibilities include:



- executing the development of the application;

- translating concepts and designs into fully functional parts of the application;

- assisting in the maintenance and improvement of the product after launch; and

- identifying and resolving system problems in order to provide continuous system operation.



You will become an essential part of our team, will be valued and will be responsible for the majority of the development tasks associated with the project.





The general requirements for the position are:



- 2+ years of experience

- Excellent communication skills

- creative thinking and goal oriented

- business-oriented mindset a plus (we are looking for our developers to understand our business and how it works with our software).





The technical requirements for the position are:



- Building Custom MXML UI Components

- Building Custom Object classes in ActionScript 3.0

- Data Binding custom objects to custom UI Components

- Sending and Retrieving data from Flex to ASP.NET Web Services via ActionScript 3.0

- Knowledge of MVC design pattern and implementation of it in Flex 2 via ActionScript 3.0

- Knowledge of Object Oriented concepts and their implementation in Flex 2 via ActionScript 3.0



Preferred techinical skills for the position are:



- Flex 2 CSS experience (Standard styling).

- Flex 2 Design experience (Flex styling).

- Flex 2 Effects experience (animation).

- Designing and implementing Databases in SQL Server 2005.

- Designing and implementing Database Stored Procedures in SQL Server 2005.

- Designing and implementing ASP.NET 2.0 Web Services.

- Experience with Microsoft Enterprise Library 2.0 or higher.

- Understanding of Service Oriented Architectures.

- Visual Studio 2008 Beta experience.

- Flex 3 Beta experience.
