I agree about that great groomer ... I've tried other groomers in other stores all around the city and this one is the best ... my dog was so nervous at first, but once she met the groomer I knew everything would be great ... in fact, I think my dog can't wait until her next cut. And while the groomers name wasn't revealed, and I won't either because of privacy, her (yes it's a her) starts with a V.
One thing that I know about the store is that its regular groomer is the BEST! She loves animals, is kind and caring ... you can't go wrong using her. Ignore the other stuff - rush to get your dog groomed by her (I left off her name, but you'll know who I'm talking about)
I wanted to agree 100% with the potential customers who said they were treated poorly or snubbed by the staff at this store. The man putting the puppies back in their (definitely TOO small) cages had no idea what kind of dogs they were. No one has ever greeted me. The man who owns the store has never made eye contact with me and I have been in here at least 4 times looking at collars and baby clothing. He seems annoyed by anyone not buying a puppy and has no interest in questions from customers.... but, had I liked his attitude more I may have purchased accessories here. I would never buy a puppy, the adopted pets my family has had have had far less health and temperment issues then the pedigree animals we have owned.... I don't believe any person who cared about puppies would put these adorable little puppies in cages that were too small for them to jump and play. I gave the store one star because the cages are usually clean. Otherwise, this place is just a glorified, overpriced puppy mill / pet store. It's almost as bad as pets on Lex and just as unfriendly. It just doesn't smell as awful.
I purchased a puppy from Jeff and Frankie on april 1. Her name is April and she is so adorable. This is my first dog ever and I am so grateful to Raising Rover for have patience to deal with me. I went back many times for over 2 years before I jumped in an bought my new puppy. April uses her wee wee pads just like the store told me. Also the vet they recommend is so gentle and thorough. Thank You for a pleasant experience.
I would never recommend this store to anyone. I wouldn't want them to be subjected to the horrible behavior display by the owner and his staff. No one greeted us (my daughter and I) or even bother to look at us. And no, the store wasn't very busy. There was one other customer besides us. When I asked the owner questions about his puppies, he wasn't friendly or helpful. This is not a kid friendly store. I don't know how any breeder would want this store to sell their puppies for them. Especially, when it's not a loving and caring enviroment. Seems like they will only acknowledge you if you purchase one of their pricey puppies. This store is all about making money and moving the puppies out. When it should really be about raising good and healthy puppies.
I have had a Great experience with this upper east side boutique. I get my dogs groomed at raising rover and I buy childrens clothing at the store. I always find the staff ready to help me, although the store is always busy. They really have amazing dog coats that I can't seem to get enough of, I must have 10 of their one of a kind coats!!! This store is a real treat.....
I can't tell how much the Upper east Side benefitted from Raising Rover and Baby. I bought my French Bulldog Puppy " EZMARELDA", in August and my friends all bought their puppies from them and everyone of us has had a positive experience. I was able to see pictures of my puppies parents and email the breeder. They are always available to answer any questions I have. My friends and I have purchased the best clothes from them and even get our baby gifts at the store. If you want a great experience buying a puppy go to Raising Rover and Baby.....
I called to inquire about grooming services for my two dogs. When I asked a price to groom both of them...I was told "in the 80's". I wasn't impressed. If I am taking my dog into get groomed I want a specific price and someone knowledgeable on the phone. I do not believe I would leave my dogs with these people. Who knows, when I pick them up the may charge me 100 a dog...since they obviously don't know their prices.
I am in the store everyday, my office is a block away. I must say the puppies are always jumping around and playing. The puppies all have toys and treats. I simply do not understand why this other review was written.
This customer called over the phone as a referral and explained how he could not spend a lot of money and he wanted a WEST HIGHLAND TERRIER PUPPY. We accommodated this customer with a puppy from a breeder we've been using for 20 years, never having a problem. The customer came in to pick up the puppy 48 hours after its arrival and the customer was in a rush. He refused to listen about the puppy’s care," HE NEW EVERYTHING", against my better judgment I allowed him to take home this adorable little puppy home. I never heard a word from the customer until 8-19, four days after he picked up the puppy telling me, THESE ARE THE WORDS OF THE CUSTOMERS E-MAIL..I don't know. He was fine all day Sunday. He ate and drank and played with his toys. He went to sleep in his bed and at about 9:30 PM he started convulsing. I called a cab to get him to the vet. By the time the cab came (about 15 minutes) he was dead. I brought his body to the vet and he guessed that something went wrong in his brain. He had examined him and given him his first shots on Saturday, Dennis.. As you can see this puppy choked or did not have the proper care and was HYPO- GLYCEMIC. Unfortunately this puppy never made it to the vet..PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW THE VET GAVE A DIAGNOSIS..Its sounds harsh but this customer did not have the vet do an autopsy , our breeder wants to know the reason their baby died. You cannot put blame on our breeder, because there is no credible evidence about the loss of this puppy. And we ask you, how you can trust a letter of diagnosis without ever having seen the puppy’s symptoms. The customer stated the puppy was examined the day before and given a CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH and VACCINATED. This customer he is rude and so arrogant and I won't subject you to the rest of his emails. I was even going to help him out with possibly another puppy until we realized that he is not even remorseful over the puppys loss......... This loss will always be disturbing to our staff and the breeder.
Pros: We always take care of our customers.......
I bought a dog there on 8/13/08. It died on 8/17/08 of an epileptic seizure.
