Steve's team came very late and lost (stole?) two expensive articles. A box of 12 wine bottles and a bag of bedding - together with over $1,000. The team claims to have delivered one and never picked up the other article - even though my wife was there to supervise. Now they don't pick up, call back and even hung up on us.
Terrible service - don't use!
These guys were really good. On time (actually early), really fast and efficient. I had moved my things cross-country in a pod. They met the pod at a U-haul center, unloaded it, loaded it into their van, drove it across Brooklyn, then carried it all up into my tiny little Williamsburg apartment, somehow managing to squeeze everything through the narrow alleyway and staircase. They saved me so much time and hassle, the cost was more than worth it!
I work with Paul and his movers often. As a real estate broker who often stages apartments, I move furnishings several times a year from apartment to apartment. Gentleman with a Van is my go-to company. This past week, they helped me move some of my own personal items and, as always, Paul's guys were friendly, efficient, and professional. After every move, Paul emails to check in and make sure it went smoothly. I highly recommend this company!
Driver was nice and helpful. All my items were handled with care. The overall move was very fast. However, the driver was over an hour late.
I will most likely call them for my next move.
We use Gentleman With A Van regularly to transport artwork to and from our gallery in Manhattan. Paul always makes an effort to accommodate last-minute requests and special needs, and his drivers are punctual, efficient and friendly. No hesitations whatsoever in recommending this company!
Just finished doing a move from my art storage in Yonkers to Brooklyn. It was a very difficult move . John and Jason were the movers, there was tension with one of the movers but in a way it was understandable. The other was very funny and kept me cool. The move began at 9 am and ended at 4:30. Paul the owner did his very best in a difficult situation. He was accessible and willing to discuss the problems we encountered.
I would definitely use them again.
Great service, easy to set up (e-mail; so convenient) and reliable service. Our second experience with them was superb: Andy and Ed were consummate professionals, who blanket-wrapped anything that might have been scratched; taped together stacked plastic drawers so they were more stable and could be moved in stacks, moved items with extreme care, etc. (They arrived 45 minutes late, but called to let us know they would be delayed, and we put the time to good use.) They worked quickly, carefully and efficiantly, and the move went smoothly and didn't take too long at all. They truly were "Gentlemen (With A Van)". We took a cab to the new apartment, and they were already there waiting for us when we arrived!
The first time we used the company, it was just two basic guys with a truck; fortunately, we were primarily moving boxes of unbreakable items, as they were adequate but somehow managed to squash several of the boxes, even though their truck could have held 5 or 6 times the amount we were moving. The driver was personable and had clearly worked as a mover before, but the assistant was green and a little thuggy. Still, they worked quickly and we paid a fair price for the work they delivered. And they were obviously good enough so that we opted to use the company a second time.
I would reccommend this company, particularly for small to midsize moves.
There does seem to be some lack of communication between dispatch and drivers, as each time, I had e-mailed carefully calculated estimates of what we would move: the first time, the truck was nearly empty, while the second time we just about filled the van, even though we decided not to move three items of furniture that had been on our original list.
My experience with Paul and the guys he sent to do my move is spectacular!
I was moving a piano and was calling around to get estimates when a friend recommended Paul. He asked for half of the price of what others had asked!
The guys who did the move were quick and yet careful and professional.
The whole operation was so smooth and affordable, I will use Gentleman With a Van for all my future moves and I strongly recommend them!
I had a very positive experience with this moving company. While they did arrive at the end of my 2-hour window, they were quick and efficient and did a really really great job. The whole move took under 2 hours (I moved into a studio and so have furniture to fill a studio) and the price was so reasonable. Everything arrived in the same condition it left in. They were friendly and nice and pleasant to deal with. I would definitely use them again.
Excellent communication via email before move, guys showed up on time and were extremely courteous and fast.
I had a small move to a storage facility but I would definitely call them again for a move large or small.

This client called a week after his move to say he was missing a box and wanted $1000. His wife signed off on completion of the move and they never indicated they were moving valuable items and did not ask for extra insurance. Standard mover's insurance is .30 a pound--we offered $200 but they did not accept .
SIncerely, Paul K Owner
